Trompe Loeils

Trompe L'Oeil Murals

Trompe l'oeils can be used to different effect depending on the circumstances. A historic form of painting, the term itself literally means "trick of the eye".

This method of painting can transform a space architecturally, creating a 'false' space, being a very useful device for opening up smaller rooms or areas. More subtle trompe painting can be engaged to blend in and become an integral element in the overall decoration - a recent project involved painting false stone panelling up a grand staircase in London, soon to be seen on our site.

A playful form of painting, trompe l'oeils can be smaller details in a room, designed to make someone look twice, or surprise. The fireplace trompe loeil above would be a good example of this.
