Historic Fireplace Chimney Board Painting in Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich, London

The historic setting of the Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich allowed us to create this fireplace trompe l'oeil. Very fashionable among Victorians to cover their fireplaces during the warmer months, chimney boards can still be used to great effect.

With paintings of Admiral Nelson and prints of his fleet adorning the walls of this banquet hall, the painted fireplace fits in with its surroundings, continuing a great tradition in this Thameside pub where once great statesmen like William Pitt, Gladstone and writers such as Charles Dickens frequented in more fashionable times.
