Nicky trained as a Fine Art painter and has gone on to specialize in decorative painting and gilding in high end residential properties over the last 15 years. Her practise has been informed by her love of painting and colour and she has always looked closely at decorative schemes employed in historic interiors for inspiration. She has worked alongside interior designers, architects and directly with her own clients producing both modern and more traditional specialist paint finishes such as stippling, dragging , marbling, stenciling, antiquing and colourwashes for walls, furniture and architectural details.

In the last 3 years Nicky has come into her own not only as a skilled practitioner but also as consultant. Recent projects have seen her advising her clients not only on decorative paint finishes but on colour schemes and general interior decoration.

She’s proactive in furthering her knowledge particularly in the research of painted decorative schemes and wallpapers in historic properties. She is a member of the Traditional Paint Forum, the Historic Wallpaper Society and SPAB, making use of these societies practical and technical based courses. As a regular assistant to the curator of Historic Wallpapers at the Whitworth Gallery in Manchester she has gained an amazing insight into the design and manufacture of wallpapers from the 17thC right through to the 20thC.

She offers an informed and intelligent response as to the style and aesthetic of the decoration that she carries out and enjoys the stimulation of working alongside both designers and clients alike. Her colour matching and mixing are excellent, with a keen eye for details, finishing touches and taste, you will find in Nicky an enthusiastic and responsive practitioner with plenty of ideas and inspiration.
